I’ve always found personality frameworks interesting, but nothing has helped me understand team dynamics and career alignment like Myers-Briggs. As an ENFJ-A and a classic Virgo, I thrive on empathy, structure, and collaboration. I love stepping into leadership roles where I can rally the team, create a positive vibe, and make a real impact while keeping an eye on the details. Having a mix of introverts and extroverts, thinkers and feelers, planners and adaptors—this kind of balance makes teams. Many companies consider personality types when hiring. As a designer, I'm a storyteller, but telling your own story can be challenging.

Enter Visionary Hires, my AI-generated podcast experiment, where I fed in my resume, 16 Personalities test, Enneagram type, and actual job postings to see which company would be the best culture and job fit for me. The results? Fascinating. Thought-provoking. Maybe even eerily accurate.

Applying the Myers-Briggs approach to team dynamics and planning my career has been a thoroughly entertaining AI experiment.

Using AI and Myers-Briggs to chart my career path

In searching for a role that aligns with my skills, experience, and personality, I’ve been experimenting with a creative, AI-driven approach that goes beyond the traditional resume drop. Inspired by my ENFJ personality type, I wanted to find roles and companies that would resonate with my leadership style and knack for collaboration. So, I devised a process that blends the analytical and the imaginative, using AI as my secret weapon.

The process

Gather Key Materials

  1. First, I downloaded my Myers-Briggs personality details, which provided insights into my strengths and tendencies. For example, I am a visionary leader, a strong communicator, and someone who thrives in empathetic, collaborative environments.

  2. Next, I collected the essentials:

    • A job description link for positions that interest me.

    • The company’s culture page or values, if available.

    • My resume.

    • Link to my UX portfolio.

  3. AI Analysis for Alignment

I inputted the above using AI tools to analyze how well my experience and personality matched the company’s needs. The AI parsed the job description to pinpoint key requirements and compared those with my resume and portfolio. It also interpreted the company’s culture page to see how my ENFJ traits aligned with their values.

Audio Pitch

  1. I went a step further to stand out: I used AI to generate a podcast-style audio file. Enter Visionary Hires, my imaginary podcast, where the hosts discuss how my background and personality make me the perfect fit for the job I’m applying for.

  2. In the podcast, the “hosts”—voiced by AI—highlight my leadership achievements, my portfolio work, and how my personality traits align with the company’s mission. It’s a unique, engaging way to present myself beyond the confines of a cover letter.

The benefits

This process has been really fun. (Why not entertain yourself along the way, right?). By analyzing job postings and company culture through AI, I’ve been able to target roles that leverage my expertise and feel like a natural fit for my personality. The podcast pitch adds a layer of personalization and creativity that helps me stand out in a crowded job market.
